How to add a message to your application

When you apply for a job, you can add a short message to introduce yourself to the client. A good message can make you stand out from other applicants and gives the client a reason to choose you.

How it works

When you apply, you'll see a message box on the application form. You can write up to 350 characters — about 50 words.

The client sees your message right away on your application card. If they get in touch, your message also appears as the first message in your chat with them.

It's free to send a message — there's no charge. We'd recommend adding one to every application.

What to write

Keep it short, friendly, and relevant to the job. Things that work well:

  • A line about your experience with this type of work

  • Why you're interested in the job

  • When you're available to start

  • Any qualifications or tools that are relevant

What to avoid

  • Don't include your phone number, email or any contact details — these will be removed automatically

  • Don't copy and paste the same message to every job — clients can tell, and a tailored message gets better results

Can I edit my message after sending?

No — once you've applied, your message is locked in. Make sure you're happy with it before pressing apply.
