When jobs are managed using the Grafter platform, provided we have a suitable insurance category for that activity, grafters will be covered by daily Public Liability Insurance. This insurance is provided to the worker by our insurance partner Zego, on a job-by-job basis.
Selecting the Right Category
When you, as the client, 'Offers' the job to the grafter, you are required to select the category of work for the job.
If the category of work is not correctly selected, or the work extends beyond that defined by the selected category, then the insurance would not be valid.
While we are doing our best to make the category list as wide as possible, there will be some jobs that are not covered by insurance. In this instance, select "None of the above - not insured". While not covered by this insurance, the grafter may have their own, or your business insurance may cover them while working for you.
When insured via Grafter the grafter is covered against compensation claims and legal costs, if a third party suffers injury or property damage as a result of your work.
The limit of indemnity is £1,000,000 in respect of any one occurrence or series of occurrences arising out of any one event.

The legal bit...
Any grafter, self-employed or otherwise, who uses the Grafter platform may seek out insurance with providers other than Zego however this will be at their own cost. Grafter does not at any time maintain that Zego is the only acceptable provider of insurance in conjunction with the work.
Making a Claim
It is the grafter that is insured, not the client. In the event of an incident, the grafter needs to make a claim. They can get in touch with the claims handling team as follows:
